Nick’s journey into the world of technology began at an early age. In the early 1980s, he learned to code on the Timex Sinclair 1000 at just seven years old. His fascination with technology continued as he explored the Chicagoland Bulletin Board Systems (BBS), utilizing a Commodore 64 and later transitioning to an Intel 386 PC running on Linux. This foundational interest blossomed into a successful career, as Nick became a well-respected authority in the field.

Professional Background

Before joining Kraken, Nick served as the Chief Security Officer at Uptake, an industrial AI firm, and held the position of Vice President of Global Services at Rapid7, a comprehensive cybersecurity company. His expertise spans numerous aspects of cybersecurity, including security breaches, malware, mobile security, and current information security trends. Nick has had the opportunity to present at major conferences such as Black Hat, DEF CON, and OWASP, engaging with private audiences including the Department of Homeland Security, US-CERT, Interpol, and the United States Secret Service.

In addition to his professional roles, Nick has been an integral part of the Chicago hacker community for decades. He is the founder of THOTCON, an established hacker conference that is set to celebrate its 12th edition in 2023.
