As a teenager, he immersed himself in the vibrant Chicagoland bulletin board systems (BBSs), honing his technological skills on a Commodore 64 and later on an Intel 386 PC running Linux. This early interest laid the groundwork for a lifelong commitment to cybersecurity.

Before joining Kraken, Nick held vital positions such as the Chief Security Officer at Uptake, an innovative company specializing in industrial AI, and Vice President of Global Services at Rapid7, a well-respected cybersecurity services firm. His expertise has made him a sought-after speaker at prestigious events, including Black Hat, DEF CON, and OWASP, where he has shared his insights on security breaches, malware, mobile security, and the evolving landscape of information security.

Nick is also well-known for his instrumental role in the Chicago hacker community. He founded THOTCON, a hacker conference that has thrived for over a decade, fostering a space for dialogue and knowledge-sharing among cybersecurity professionals.
