Strict Action Taken Against Illegal Plastic Manufacturing in New Delhi
In a significant move towards environmental protection, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has ordered the shutdown of 16 illegal manufacturing units producing plastic in New Delhi within the past two months. This proactive measure highlights the ongoing efforts to combat plastic pollution in the region.
In February and March of this year, DPCC teams carried out inspections across 25 industrial facilities focused on the production of plastic carry bags located in the Bawana and Narela industrial zones. According to reports from PTI, out of the 25 units inspected, only nine adhered to the necessary environmental regulations. The remaining 16 were found to be in violation of the Plastic Waste Management Rules established in 2016.
These regulations aim to curb the production and distribution of non-biodegradable plastics, which pose serious risks to both the environment and public health. The DPCC’s decisive action is a reminder of the importance of compliance with environmental laws and the ongoing fight against plastic waste. By closing down these illegal establishments, the DPCC not only reinforces the necessity of sustainable practices but also paves the way for a cleaner and healthier future for Delhi.
As the world turns its gaze towards more eco-friendly alternatives, initiatives like these serve as crucial steps in fostering a greener society. It is imperative that both manufacturers and consumers remain aware of their environmental responsibilities in order to create lasting change.
