Troubleshooting Unruly Internet: A Frustrating Dilemma
Hello readers,
I’m reaching out today to share an intriguing situation my significant other and I are currently facing since moving into her family’s home. To say the dynamics here are unique would be an understatement.
Our living arrangement involves her stepdad, who possesses a notable level of tech-savviness but seems to have a peculiar relationship with the household internet connection. It frequently goes offline at the most inconvenient times, particularly after disagreements arise within the home. Oddly enough, he consistently denies any involvement in these outages and even offers me basic advice on how to restore the connection, such as resetting the router and modem.
Despite following his suggestions religiously, the internet remains elusive until he returns home and vehemently discusses the issue with an Eastlink representative, after which the connection typically reestablishes itself.
To add to the challenge, he has changed the password for administrative access, preventing me from investigating the network settings myself. Even attempting a hard reset on both the modem and the router fails to revive the connection. Given these circumstances, I’m contemplating whether securing my own internet service might be the best route.
If anyone has experienced a similar scenario or has insight on how to navigate this frustrating situation effectively, I would greatly appreciate your suggestions.
In the meantime, I’ll keep a close watch on the internet activity, hoping to uncover more details should it go down again. Thank you for your understanding and assistance!
