Is my computer audio acting up unexpectedly, or am I just losing my mind?

Is My Computer Playing Radio Station or Am I Losing My Mind?

Have you ever experienced something so peculiar with your technology that you start to question your sanity? It seems I might be on the verge of such a situation.

Recently, I’ve been grappling with a rather curious audio issue involving my somewhat outdated computer speaker and subwoofer setup. On several occasions, I’ve noticed that these speakers faintly emit sounds reminiscent of a classic rock radio station, occasionally blended with the voice of a soft-spoken DJ. At first, I entertained the idea that my computer might be afflicted by some form of malware or a virus. The situation took a bizarre turn when I unplugged the audio input—yet, the music persisted, defying any conventional explanation.

Could it be that these aging speakers were simply unintentionally acting as a radio receiver? It seemed a plausible enough explanation, and I comforted myself with the belief that this was merely a quirky quirk of my old hardware. After all, technology can be unpredictable, right?

Fast forward to the present, and I’ve recently transitioned to a work-from-home job that requires phone support. They provided me with a shiny new laptop and a USB headset with a microphone, setting me up for success. However, just after wrapping up a call with a client, I was met with an eerily familiar sound—yes, you guessed it! Soft classic rock melodies were once again wafting through my headset, just like before. This brief yet uncanny experience lasted for a few minutes before fading away, leaving me questioning whether I was truly hearing things or if there was some logical explanation behind it.

So, I’m reaching out to you, fellow tech enthusiasts: Is there a rational technological explanation for this odd occurrence, or should I start preparing for a little stay at the local asylum? Your insights would be greatly appreciated, as I venture further down this rabbit hole of audio anomalies!
