Is My Computer Repair Experience Turning into a Scam? Seeking Your Advice

I’m reaching out to share my experience with a computer repair service and to gather some advice from this community. I own a Lenovo Yoga laptop that’s just over two years old, and recently, I’ve encountered some serious issues. It has been crashing unexpectedly, with odd black and colored squares flashing across the screen. After attempting to resolve the issue myself by updating the graphics driver and troubleshooting, I ultimately decided to seek professional help.
I found a small, one-person repair service that had received positive reviews and arranged to meet the technician in person outside his office. As a student, I’m always mindful of my budget, so I asked if he could quickly assess the problem and provide an estimate for the repair costs. If the expense was too high, I would have to consider other options.
However, things took a strange turn shortly after I left my laptop for repair. A few days later, I received messages from the technician mentioning that he needed to order a part I had never heard of and couldn’t find any information about online. When I expressed my concerns about this unusual component, he seemed irritated and, surprisingly, has not responded to any of my messages for nearly a month now. He has had my laptop since May 25, which is quite frustrating, especially since I rely on it for both work and school.

At this point, I feel stuck and uncertain about what steps to take next. Is this delay and lack of communication typical in repair situations? I would greatly appreciate any advice or insights from those who have been in similar situations. How should I proceed?
