Troubleshooting a Non-Functional Nvidia 3060 GPU: Insights from an IT Professional
As an IT professional, encountering hardware issues is par for the course, but sometimes a persistent problem can leave you scratching your head. Recently, I acquired a used laptop from my workplace equipped with an Nvidia 3060 graphics card. For the first two weeks, everything functioned smoothly. However, just a few days ago, the GPU ceased to work without any warning.
Despite my best efforts to rectify the situation, the struggle continues. Here’s a summary of the steps I’ve taken so far:
-
Driver Reinstallation: I’ve gone through multiple installations and uninstalls of the GPU drivers, including reverting to earlier versions. Unfortunately, this hasn’t yielded any results.
-
BIOS Updates: I updated the BIOS to the latest version, and even rolled back to a previous update to see if that could resolve the issue. Still, no success.
-
Windows Modifications: I tried reinstalling Windows entirely and even went back to an older version, thinking that could make a difference. Sadly, that did not solve the problem either.
The device manager indicates that the graphics card is recognized; however, it remains unacknowledged by any other software applications. This leads me to wonder: could there be additional configurations or fixes that I might have overlooked?
If anyone has experience dealing with similar issues or has insight into troubleshooting a non-responsive Nvidia GPU, your advice would be immensely appreciated. I’m eager to get this laptop back to its working state!
