Kasperky reducing internet speed by 60%. As soon as I close it it’s back to normal.

Experiencing Internet Slowdown with Kaspersky: A Frustrating Encounter

I’ve recently been grappling with a significant issue related to Kaspersky antivirus Software that I feel compelled to share. After making the switch from BitDefender—a trusted solution I had utilized for over five years—to Kaspersky, I discovered that my internet speed was being reduced by approximately 60%. The moment I uninstall or close Kaspersky, my connection speed returns to normal levels.

This drastic slowdown is particularly troublesome for me, as I frequently download large files and require my internet to operate at full capacity. Interestingly enough, it’s during these times that I feel the need for robust antivirus protection the most. However, I found myself in a dilemma: I couldn’t afford to disable Kaspersky while simultaneously needing to safeguard my computer.

Prior to switching, I had only positive experiences with BitDefender. Even with all its protection features enabled, my internet speed remained consistent. I also tested other antivirus solutions, including McAfee, Norton, and Avira, and none of them exhibited this problematic behavior.

The situation is clear to me: the slowdown is solely linked to Kaspersky. I even conducted tests on my work computer, and the results were identical. To troubleshoot the issue, I’ve methodically disabled Kaspersky’s protection features one at a time, but regrettably, none have produced a significant improvement in speed. Even after temporarily disabling everything, I found no increase in performance.

To compound my frustration, reaching out to Kaspersky’s Tech Support was an exercise in futility. They offered little assistance and outright refused to process a refund, leaving me stuck with an antivirus that I find unacceptable.

For context, despite having a 400 Mbps connection—one that I pay a premium for—capping my speed by 60% due to an antivirus program is simply intolerable. This issue extends beyond individual websites; it affects all downloading activities.

Given my past satisfaction with BitDefender, I can only lament my decision to stray from what I knew worked well. If you’re considering antivirus options, I highly recommend thinking twice before opting for Kaspersky. It’s important to protect your device, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of your internet performance.

If anyone has suggestions for reliable antivirus alternatives or solutions to this Kaspersky issue, your input would be greatly appreciated!
