Kaspersky’s Impact on Internet Speed: A Frustrating Experience

Recently, I encountered a significant issue with Kaspersky antivirus that has left me quite frustrated. It seems that this Software is throttling my internet speed by nearly 60%. The moment I shut down Kaspersky, my connection speed promptly returns to normal.

This problem is particularly concerning for me, as I often download large files that demand full bandwidth. Ironically, this is the time when I need robust antivirus protection the most, making it impractical to disable the program.

Previously, I had been using BitDefender without any issues until last week when my license expired. During my time with BitDefender, my internet speed remained consistent, even while downloading. I’ve also tested other antivirus solutions such as McAfee, Norton, and Avira, and none exhibited this bottleneck.

It is clear to me that the issue stems from Kaspersky. I even installed the Software on my work computer, only to experience the same slowdown. I’ve attempted to troubleshoot the problem by disabling various protection features within Kaspersky one by one, yet I noticed no improvement in speed. I even disabled all features entirely but still saw no increase in performance. From what I understand, BitDefender has similar protective measures, and when I was using it, I faced no such declines in internet speed.

After reaching out to Kaspersky’s technical support, I was met with little assistance. They ultimately refused to provide a refund, leaving me feeling stuck with an antivirus that doesn’t meet my needs. I must admit, I made the switch to Kaspersky out of curiosity after five years of loyalty to BitDefender, a decision I now regret.

If you’re considering Kaspersky, I would advise caution based on my experience. It seems that there’s something fundamentally wrong with how this Software interacts with internet speed. If anyone has suggestions for alternatives or possible fixes, I would greatly appreciate it.

Note: My internet connection is rated at 400 Mbps, and I’m investing a substantial amount each month to ensure this speed is available for my work. Experiencing a 60% reduction due to an antivirus program is simply unacceptable, especially when this issue has been consistent across multiple downloads and not restricted to a single website.
