Kaspersky Slowing My Internet by 60% – Speed Returns Instantly When I Shut It Down

Unacceptable Internet Speed Decline: My Experience with Kaspersky

I recently encountered a frustrating issue with Kaspersky, which significantly reduced my internet speed by nearly 60%. This became apparent as soon as I closed the software, only for my connection to resume its normal speed. As someone who frequently downloads large files, I rely heavily on a stable and fast internet connection, and this drastic slowdown is a major concern for me.

Interestingly, I had just switched from BitDefender, after using it for several years without any problems. My internet speed with BitDefender was consistently optimal, even when downloading sizeable files. I decided to try Kaspersky partly out of curiosity, but that choice has proven to be a regrettable one.

In addition to my own experience, I have tested various other antivirus solutions, including McAfee, Norton, and Avira, and none of them caused similar issues. It’s evident that the performance drop is directly linked to Kaspersky, as I’ve even tested it on my work computer, where the results were alarmingly the same.

In my efforts to troubleshoot, I methodically turned off Kaspersky’s protection features one by one, hoping to identify the culprit behind the sluggish speeds. Unfortunately, that didn’t yield any results. Even when I disabled all protection features, there was no noticeable increase in speed. On the other hand, I managed to run BitDefender with all features enabled without experiencing these types of issues at all.

Despite my attempts to resolve the problem through Kaspersky’s customer support, the experience was disheartening. Their responses were unhelpful, and they refused to provide a refund, leaving me stuck with what I consider an ineffective antivirus product.

I feel compelled to share this experience as a cautionary tale for others considering their options in antivirus software. From my perspective, Kaspersky has posed not just a risk to my speed but also to my productivity, as I depend on a high-speed connection for my work.

While some may argue that 400 Mbps is adequate, I am paying a premium for this service, and I expect to receive the full benefit of my connection. Encountering a substantial reduction in speed due to an antivirus program is simply unacceptable, especially when it also affects my ability to download files efficiently.

If anyone has suggestions for reliable antivirus options, I would greatly appreciate your recommendations as I seek to rectify this situation and return to a dependable solution.
