Kaspersky Slows Down My Internet by 60%; Speed Returns Once I Shut It Down

Kaspersky: A Disappointing Experience with Internet Speed Throttling

I recently encountered a significant issue with Kaspersky that has left me frustrated and seeking advice. Upon installing Kaspersky, I noticed that my internet speed plummeted by nearly 60%. The moment I disabled the software, my connection returned to its usual pace. This slowdown is particularly problematic for me, as I regularly need to download large files and require my internet bandwidth at its fullest. Ironically, this is also the time when I rely on my antivirus protection the most, making it impossible to simply turn it off.

Prior to switching to Kaspersky, I had been using BitDefender without any issues, even during intensive downloading sessions. My internet speed remained consistent, and the software provided robust protection without hindrances. During my search for alternatives, I also tested McAfee, Norton, and Avira, all of which maintained normal speeds without any noticeable drop.

This issue appears to be isolated to Kaspersky, as I replicated the setup on my work computer with the same disappointing results. I attempted to troubleshoot the problem by methodically disabling Kaspersky’s various protection features. Unfortunately, none of these steps led to an improvement; even when all features were turned off, the speed did not increase. Meanwhile, my previous experience with BitDefender showed that I could run all its security features simultaneously without encountering any speed issues.

After reaching out to Kaspersky’s technical support, I was left disheartened. The support team provided little in terms of solutions and declined my request for a refund. Consequently, I find myself stuck with an antivirus that significantly hampers my internet performance.

Although I had intended to try something new, my recent switch from BitDefender—software I had trusted for five years—was a regrettable decision. If anyone is considering Kaspersky, I would strongly advise against it. The experience raises several red flags for me, and I’m eager to find a better alternative.

For context, my internet connection is 400 Mbps, which is essential for my work and daily tasks. Having it reduced by such a significant margin due to an antivirus program is simply unacceptable. Furthermore, my download speeds across various sites confirm this issue isn’t isolated to any single platform.

If you have any recommendations or alternative solutions, I would greatly appreciate your suggestions.
