Troubleshooting Computer Issues: Seeking Guidance on Power and Startup Problems
Recently, I’ve been encountering some perplexing issues with my computer that I can’t quite decipher. To give you a bit of background, my machine was repaired about three years ago after I received a faulty component from a less-than-reputable supplier. Following that repair, I noticed some odd behavior, starting with a persistent CPU fan error message during startup. However, the fan was functioning properly, and the CPU temperature remained normal. Rather than contacting the repair shop for assistance, I opted to bypass the error by booting directly from the BIOS, which may not have been the wisest decision.
My challenges escalated when I discovered my Windows operating system was on the brink of failure, ultimately pinpointing the problem to a malfunctioning SSD. I took the initiative to replace the SSD, which seemed to resolve my immediate concerns—until the next string of technical difficulties emerged.
Now, I’m facing a rather frustrating issue with my power button. At times, my computer powers on without any problems, but on other occasions, it refuses to boot. When this occurs, the power button illuminates as if the system is starting, and the power supply activates, yet there’s no response from my keyboard or mouse, and the display remains blank.
During these startup failures, I’ve developed a routine involving multiple attempts to power the computer off and on again, toggling the power supply, and sometimes even physically opening the case to ensure all connections are secure. Despite these efforts, everything appears correctly connected, and yet the system will occasionally refuse to cooperate.
Another quirk I’ve noticed is that when switching the HDMI output from my monitor to my TV, the entire system unexpectedly restarts. Additionally, minor bumps—like my knee brushing against the case as I stand—can also lead to the computer shutting down, often without warning.
I would greatly appreciate any insights or advice on diagnosing and resolving these issues. Are there specific components I should be inspecting, or troubleshooting steps that could shed light on the situation?
For those interested in the visuals, I’ve shared images and videos of my setup here. Thank you in advance for your help!
