Urgent Security Concerns: A Personal Account of Amazon Hacking
In an age where online shopping has become second nature, the security of our accounts is paramount. Unfortunately, I find myself in a troubling situation that I feel compelled to share. For the past three weeks, I have been battling unauthorized access to my Amazon account, leading to a series of alarming incidents that have left me feeling vulnerable and frustrated.
It all began when I noticed several strange activities in my account. Unauthorized orders were being placed regularly, and unfamiliar debit and credit cards were being linked to my profile. To my horror, I discovered that items were being shipped to my home that I had neither ordered nor authorized. This raises the possibility of a brushing scam—a deceptive practice where sellers ship items to create the illusion of a legitimate transaction.
Despite reaching out to Amazon support over five times and having my account temporarily locked twice, the issue continues to persist. In a desperate attempt to reclaim control, I have changed my password more than ten times and enabled two-factor authentication (2FA) not only on my Amazon account but also for the associated email account. Additionally, I’ve taken the precaution of deauthorizing every device linked to my account.
Amazon claims that they have “sanitized” my account, but the situation remains unchanged. I am at a loss as to what further steps I can take. While closing my account seems like a solution, I am reluctant to do so due to years of order history and accumulated benefits, especially related to my children’s baby registries.
If anyone has faced a similar situation or has advice on how to navigate this troubling scenario, I would greatly appreciate your insights. Managing online security is increasingly challenging, and sharing experiences could help us all stay one step ahead of cyber threats.
