Battling a Hacked Amazon Account: My Ongoing Struggle
It’s been an overwhelming three weeks of chaos, as someone has managed to gain unauthorized access to my Amazon account, and despite my numerous efforts, the situation seems to only be getting worse.
Initially, I suspected I may have fallen victim to a brushing scam—a scheme in which an individual uses someone else’s account to make orders, often to falsely inflate seller ratings. Since then, my concerns have only deepened. I’ve witnessed unauthorized debit and credit card information being added to my account, alongside unfamiliar shipping addresses that are not mine. Even more alarming are the consistent orders being made with these cards—items mailed directly to my home that I didn’t purchase.
Despite reaching out to Amazon’s customer support more than five times and locking my account on two separate occasions, the intrusion continues unabated. In a bid to secure my account, I have changed my password over ten times and implemented two-factor authentication for both my Amazon account and the associated email. Additionally, I have deauthorized every device linked to my account, hoping this would finally put an end to the ongoing breaches.
Amazon has assured me that they have “sanitized” my account, yet I am still facing the same issues, leaving me feeling frustrated and anxious. The prospect of having to close my account is daunting; not only do I have years of order history stored within, but I have also accumulated valuable perks through my various transactions, including setting up my children’s baby registries.
As I navigate this frustrating experience, I’m left wondering what my next steps should be. It’s disheartening to feel powerless against this breach of my privacy and security. If anyone has experienced a similar situation or has advice on how to effectively resolve this issue, I would greatly appreciate your insights and support.
