Troubleshooting a Hacked Amazon Account: My Ongoing Struggle

In the digital age, account security is paramount, and yet, many of us find ourselves vulnerable to online breaches. I’m sharing my current predicament in hopes of shedding light on a common issue and, perhaps, gaining some advice or support from others who may have faced similar challenges.

For over three weeks, my Amazon account has been compromised, and I am at a loss for how to resolve the situation. It appears that unauthorized individuals have gained access to my account and are using it to place orders. I suspect this might be related to a brushing scam, although I can’t say for certain.

What makes the situation even more concerning is the addition of unfamiliar debit and credit cards linked to my account, alongside shipping addresses I do not recognize. Items are being ordered and sent to my home, which has made this entire experience quite alarming.

Despite reaching out to Amazon multiple times—over five calls, to be precise—and requesting them to lock my account, the problem persists. I have taken all the recommended precautions, from changing my password more than ten times to enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) not only for my Amazon account but also for the associated email. Furthermore, I have deauthorized every device currently logged into my account.

Each time I contact Amazon, they reassure me that they have “sanitized” my account. However, I have yet to see any improvement, and the unauthorized activity continues unabated.

I find myself at a crossroads. While I want to protect my personal information and stop the unauthorized access, I am hesitant to close my account entirely. I have built up a significant order history and accumulated valuable perks over the years, especially from managing my children’s baby registries through Amazon.
