My Brother Keeps Using My Laptop Without Permission: Seeking Advice

Hello readers! This is my inaugural post, and I’m not entirely sure if I’m in the right place, but I could really use some guidance.

A few months back, I proudly purchased my very first laptop. Given that technology can be quite pricey in my area, I dedicated two years of hard work to save up for it. At 20 years old, this was a significant milestone for me, achieved entirely through my own efforts—not a gift from my parents or anything like that.

Initially, I was generous enough to allow my younger brother to use the laptop for a few hours a day to play video games. However, I recently discovered that he has been using it without my permission while I’m asleep, and what’s worse is that he doesn’t seem to think it’s a big deal—not even slightly apologetic! He’s only 17, but that doesn’t make his actions any less frustrating.

After confronting him about the situation, I decided to cut him off from using it for a couple of days. Despite this, he continued to sneak in some usage. What really puzzles me is how he’s managing to access the laptop. There’s only one account on it, secured with a strong password that I changed while he was out, ensuring he wouldn’t see it or have a chance to guess it. I’ve also verified that there are no alternative sign-in options enabled, yet he still seems to find a way in.

I’m at a loss and feeling quite taken advantage of. I was hoping to foster trust, but it feels like that honesty is being exploited. To complicate matters further, I’m not particularly tech-savvy, and English isn’t my first language, so I would appreciate any advice that is straightforward and easy to understand.

Just for context, my laptop is an ASUS TUF F15 running Windows 11, in case that information is relevant.

Edit: Thank you all for your suggestions! I’ll be trying out the tips you provided.
