Troubleshooting My Computer’s Quirks: Seeking Your Expertise

Recently, I’ve run into some perplexing issues with my computer that I can’t seem to resolve. For a bit of background, my journey with this machine got complicated about three years ago when I had to replace a faulty component installed by a less-than-reputable repair service. Ever since that incident, my computer has exhibited some strange behavior.

Initially, I encountered a recurring CPU fan error message upon startup, despite the fan functioning and the CPU being at a normal temperature. While I probably should have reached out to the repair shop for help, I opted to navigate the problem myself, often booting directly from BIOS.

The situation deteriorated further when Windows began to malfunction, which I eventually traced back to a problematic SSD. After replacing the SSD, things seemed to settle down—at least for a while.

Fast forward to my latest challenge. My computer has developed an intermittent failure to power on when I press the power button. Sometimes it will turn on as expected, but other times it won’t respond. The power button lights illuminate, and the power supply shows signs of activity, but nothing else happens: no lights on the keyboard, no activity with the mouse, and no display on the monitor.

When this failure occurs, I often find myself in a frustrating cycle of switching the power off and on again, toggling the electrical plugs, and occasionally even opening the case to double-check all connections—though everything appears secure when I do.

Despite these power issues, the system operates smoothly once it boots. A couple of other oddities have surfaced, too: when I switch the HDMI connection from my monitor to my TV, the computer sometimes restarts unexpectedly. Additionally, any accidental bumps—like when I’m getting up from my chair—might cause the computer to shut down.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or insights from fellow tech enthusiasts. If you have experienced similar issues or can offer advice on how to diagnose or resolve these problems, it would be incredibly helpful!
