Troubleshooting My Computer’s Quirky Behaviors: Seeking Advice

Recently, I’ve found myself grappling with some odd issues on my computer that seem to intensify with time. To provide a bit of background, I had my system repaired about three years ago after encountering problems stemming from a counterfeit part sourced from an unknown vendor. Although the repair was executed successfully, I’ve been facing persistent nuances with my machine.

Initially, I encountered a recurring “CPU fan error” during startup, despite the fan operating normally and the CPU maintaining a standard temperature. I opted to bypass this issue by accessing the BIOS each time, instead of reaching out to the repair technicians—a decision I now reflect upon with some regret.

Further down the line, my Windows installation started to show signs of distress. After some troubleshooting, I suspected a malfunctioning SSD, which I subsequently replaced. This seemed to temporarily ease my frustrations—at least until new issues arose.

These days, I’m experiencing intermittent startup troubles. When I press the power button, my computer sometimes powers up and sometimes it doesn’t. When it fails to start, the power button and power supply light up as if it’s booting, yet there’s no response from my keyboard, mouse, or monitor.

Whenever the machine refuses to wake, the solution often involves a tedious process of powering down and restarting repeatedly, fiddling with switches, and occasionally opening the case to ensure all connections are secure. Strangely, everything appears intact upon inspection.

Beyond the startup problem, the computer functions well, albeit with an odd quirk: switching the HDMI output between my monitor and TV often leads to an unexpected restart. There are also rare instances where a slight bump, particularly from my knee while getting out of my chair, causes the system to shut off completely.
