My computer is stuck endlessly copying, and I can no longer use it effectively.

Troubleshooting a Bizarre Computer Glitch: A Journey Through Frustration

Have you ever faced a technology nightmare that left you feeling completely helpless? That’s exactly why I find myself writing this post. Over the past couple of days, my computer has been exhibiting some truly bizarre behavior—specifically, it’s been copy-pasting randomly without my consent, rendering it almost unusable.

The Beginning of the Nightmare

It all started yesterday when I noticed my computer began acting strangely. I was minding my own business when my screen began to fill with copied text and images that I hadn’t even selected. After several frustrating restarts, the problem seemed to subside momentarily, but soon enough, it returned with a vengeance. I even tried resetting my computer and uninstalling the drivers, but nothing worked to resolve the issue.

Keyboard Troubleshooting

In my effort to identify the source of the problem, I unplugged my keyboard and tried connecting a different one. However, to my dismay, the issue persisted.

The Culprit Unearthed

My investigation revealed further clues when I remembered that just before the chaos began, I had downloaded a medical imaging program called Radiant Viewer, accompanied by some DICOM files I received from my professor. Strangely, after downloading the software and examining those files, both my desktop and my laptop—which I had also used for the same task—started displaying the same intrusive copying behavior. The whole situation felt surreal and quite unsettling.

To illustrate my frustration, I even recorded videos capturing the glitch in action:

Tracing the Issue

After conducting a thorough analysis, it became clear that the USB drive from which I had transferred the files was likely causing the issue. Upon performing a factory reset and formatting my drive, I briefly saw improvements; however, as soon as I connected the USB again, the problems returned.

It was time for decisive action. I moved into a full factory reset mode again, which initially provided some relief, but soon after, my computer reverted to its erratic ways.
