My computer is stuck in a continuous copy-paste loop, making it impossible to use anymore.

A Troublesome Glitch: My Computer’s Mysterious Copy-Pasting Dilemma

Have you ever experienced a frustrating issue with your computer that seemed to spiral out of control? Recently, I faced a perplexing challenge that left me scrambling for solutions, and I thought I’d share my journey in hopes of finding a resolution and maybe even helping others in a similar predicament.

The Birth of the Problem

It all started yesterday when my computer began exhibiting erratic behavior. Without any action on my part, it began copying random items continuously, rendering me unable to work effectively. Despite multiple restarts—during which the system appeared normal for a short while—the issue would inevitably return. In an attempt to rectify this, I reset my computer and even uninstalled the relevant drivers, but to no avail.

To rule out any hardware malfunction, I disconnected my keyboard and switched to a different one, but the problem persisted.

A Possible Culprit

Upon investigation, I recalled downloading a program called Radiant Viewer, meant for handling DICOM files, accompanied by files obtained from a USB drive lent to me by my professor. Since integrating these files into my system, the chaos began. Interestingly, after transferring the same software and files onto my laptop, I noticed it began experiencing the same glitch.

I documented my experience through a series of videos, illustrating the bizarre behavior of both devices.

Identifying the Source of the Glitch

As I delved deeper into the situation, it became clear that the USB drive was likely the source of the issue. After performing a full disk reset and format, my computer initially returned to normal operation. However, the moment I reinserted the USB drive, the pesky behavior returned, leading me to believe that it harbored some unseen trouble.

I even attempted a factory reset, which temporarily alleviated the symptoms but was short-lived. This prompted a clean installation of Windows, but the problem still lingered.

A Twist in the Tale

Here’s where it gets really interesting: while I was using an old laptop for schoolwork, it abruptly displayed the same glitch—even though it had no contact with the troublesome USB drive. The only peripherals connected were a keyboard and mouse. It turned out that as soon as I connected the mouse to my desktop, the glitch reappeared.

This led me to suspect that the mouse itself might be compromised, potentially harboring a virus. I couldn’t help but wonder if the source of the infection
