Troubleshooting My Erratic Computer Behavior: Seeking Your Insights
Recently, I’ve noticed some peculiar issues with my computer that have left me scratching my head. To give you a bit of background, about three years ago, I had to get my computer repaired after receiving a faulty part from an unknown supplier. Following the repair, my system started behaving oddly; for instance, it often displayed a “CPU fan error” message—even though the fan was operational and the CPU temperature was within a normal range. Instead of seeking assistance from the repair shop, I decided to troubleshoot on my own, which was probably not the best choice.
Eventually, I identified another problem: my Windows operating system was becoming increasingly unstable. After some investigation, I concluded that the issue stemmed from a faulty SSD, which I promptly replaced. This seemed to resolve the issues—at least for a while.
However, I’ve recently encountered a new challenge that has reignited my frustrations. Now, my computer’s power button is hit or miss when it comes to turning on the system.
On the occasions when it refuses to start, the power button and power supply lights illuminate as if the computer is booting up. Inside the case, everything appears to be running normally, but the monitor remains blank, and peripherals like my keyboard and mouse fail to receive any power.
To resolve this, I’ve resorted to a series of troubleshooting steps that can be quite tedious. These often involve turning the machine off and on repeatedly, switching the power strip off and on, and occasionally opening up the case to check connections. Each time I do this, everything looks like it’s properly connected, yet the computer behaves inconsistently.
Additionally, I face intermittent quirks, such as when switching HDMI ports between my monitor and TV, which occasionally forces a full restart. Even minor physical nudges can cause the computer to shut down unexpectedly, adding to my exasperation.
I’m reaching out for any guidance or advice on how to tackle these issues effectively. If you have any insights or recommendations for troubleshooting hardware problems like this, I would greatly appreciate your input!
