My computer’s behavior has shifted—it’s not just acting up, it’s becoming even more bizarre. (Variation 13)

Troubleshooting My Quirky Computer: Seeking Solutions

Recently, my computer has taken a turn for the bizarre, prompting me to seek advice from the tech community. While I’ve experienced my fair share of technical hiccups over the years, it seems that recent issues have escalated in a way that I find puzzling and frustrating.

A Brief Backstory

To give you some context, about three years ago, I had my computer repaired after discovering that it had been fitted with a counterfeit part from an unknown source. Post-repair, I noticed an unusual behavior: a persistent ‘CPU fan error’ message would pop up at startup, even though the fan was functioning normally and the CPU temperature was stable. Instead of reaching out to the repair service—which I now realize would have been the wise choice—I opted to access the BIOS and proceed from there.

More recently, I encountered problems with Windows that ultimately led me to replace what I suspect was a faulty SSD. After that replacement, everything seemed to run smoothly for a while. However, as luck would have it, new issues soon emerged.

Current Complications

My next challenge involves the computer’s inconsistent powering on. There are moments when I hit the power button, and it either starts up or doesn’t—even though the power button and the power supply light up, suggesting that everything is operational inside the case. Unfortunately, the display remains blank, and neither my keyboard nor mouse lights up.

When this occurs, the resolution requires a fair amount of tinkering. I find myself repeatedly turning the power off and on, adjusting the plugs, and sometimes even having to open the case to check all the connections. Despite inspecting the internals and discovering everything appears well-connected, the issue persists.

Additional Peculiarities

Aside from the booting challenge, my computer works reasonably well—until I switch the HDMI connection from my monitor to my TV, which often triggers a complete restart. Moreover, I’ve noticed that if the case is jostled—say, by my knee when I stand up—the system might shut off unexpectedly, or even crash at random intervals.

At this point, I’m reaching out to see if anyone in the community has encountered similar issues or has insights on how I might diagnose and resolve these persistent problems.
