My Computer Won’t Start After Accidentally Hitting My Desk

Troubleshooting a PC That Won’t Start: A Personal Experience

Recently, I encountered a perplexing issue with my computer that I felt compelled to share, especially since it highlights the importance of careful handling of our tech. It all began when I absentmindedly slammed my hand on my desk, and shortly after, my PC restarted. Initially, I thought nothing of it, but this time was different. Upon rebooting, an ominous message appeared: “This PC needs to be repaired,” indicating that certain “kernels” were missing.

Concerned, I powered down my PC and attempted to start it up again, only to be met with a blank screen and a “no signal” message. Naturally, I was eager to find a solution. Here are the specifications of my rig for context:

  • Motherboard: MSI Z270 M5
  • Graphics Card: RTX 2070 Super
  • Processor: Intel i7-7700
  • RAM: 16GB TridentZ
  • Power Supply: CM 850W Gold
  • Storage: 256GB Kingston SSD

The next steps were crucial. I reached out to the community for advice, and the response was overwhelmingly supportive. Following the guidance I received, I decided to disassemble my PC carefully and reassemble it to ensure everything was properly connected. I also reset the CMOS, which proved to be the vital step I needed.

To my delight, after putting everything back together, my computer booted up successfully, and the issue was resolved! It was a fabulous reminder of how sometimes the simplest fixes can lead to the biggest victories.

On a lighter note, I usually maintain my composure, but playing Escape from Tarkov has a way of turning me into a different person—stress levels can skyrocket, and you might just find yourself venting a bit!

If you ever face a similar issue, I hope my experience can guide you towards a solution. Remember to handle your technology with care, and when in doubt, don’t hesitate to seek help from the community!
