Bizarre Clone: How My Google Credentials Ended Up in a Stranger’s Account
In an unsettling turn of events, I recently encountered a peculiar situation involving my Google account credentials. Just yesterday, I was contacted through social media by an individual who was completely unknown to me until that moment. She shared that her MacBook Pro had started suggesting my login credentials whenever she attempted to access various websites using Google Chrome.
To my shock, her Google account somehow retained all the credentials I had carefully saved over the years. The strange part? I had never had any kind of interaction with her computer, nor had she ever accessed mine. Up until this incident, we were effectively strangers.
After our initial exchange, we arranged to meet in person, and what I discovered was both alarming and bewildering. Her browser settings mirrored mine to an alarming degree—her bookmarks, extensions, and even other configurations were strikingly similar to what I had on my own Google account. However, she maintained that my account had never been signed in on her device at any point.
The mystery deepened when I considered how this could have happened. I attempted to reach out to Google support for clarity but was only able to leave a message on their help center, and I have yet to receive a response.
This experience raises numerous questions about data security and account management. How could my information have seemingly transferred to another person’s account without any direct interaction between us?
