My Multiple Calls to ISP Tech Support Over Repeated Internet Drops, High Latency, and Packet Loss—Their Shockingly Ignorant Response

Troubleshooting Internet Issues: Struggling with Packet Loss and High Latency

Dealing with persistent internet issues can be incredibly frustrating, especially when you feel like you’re not getting the help you need. Recently, I’ve experienced significant connectivity problems, including frequent drops, high latency, and severe packet loss. After reaching out to my internet service provider’s support team multiple times, I was shocked to encounter a lack of understanding regarding basic terms like “packet loss.”

My current setup involves a Huawei HG532E modem, which seems to be the source of my woes. The symptoms are all too familiar: the internet and ADSL indicator lights on the modem consistently shut off, leaving me without a connection. High latency is apparent whenever I ping any server, and the packet loss has reached severe levels. To isolate the issue, I ensured there were no latency problems between my PC and the modem. A switch to G.dmt temporarily alleviated two of my issues, but it inadvertently exacerbated the disconnection problem, with my internet dropping out every few minutes for about 20 seconds at a time—almost as if the modem is rebooting itself, which has become alarmingly frequent.

Reaching out for assistance, I requested a Level 2 tech support representative only to be met with further delays and empty promises. Despite being assured a callback within two days, it’s now been over two weeks with no follow-up, and every subsequent inquiry seems to stretch the timeline further.

At this point, I am at my wit’s end. If anyone has faced similar issues or has suggestions on how to effectively resolve these connectivity challenges, I would greatly appreciate your guidance! Your advice might help not just me, but others experiencing similar frustrations.
