When Disaster Strikes: My Computer Caught Fire – Seeking Help
Recently, I faced an unexpected and alarming incident with my gaming rig that left me both shocked and confused. While diving into GTTOD on Steam, I encountered a catastrophic failure within mere minutes of gameplay. Suddenly, my monitor went black, and I witnessed sparks flying—followed closely by actual flames emerging from the PCIE slot near my graphics card.
Panic set in, and I quickly powered down my power supply unit (PSU) and unplugged everything to prevent further damage. After the smoke cleared, I captured some images of the aftermath, which you can view here.

Seeking Insight
As I assess the situation, I’m left pondering what could have caused this catastrophe. The good news is that all my components are still under warranty. However, I am concerned about what exactly needs replacing. It seems likely that both my motherboard and GPU have sustained severe damage, but I’m unsure if one component damaged the other or if they both succumbed simultaneously.
If anyone has experienced a similar incident or has insights into what might have happened here, I would greatly appreciate your expertise. Your advice could help me navigate the forthcoming warranty claim process without further frustration.
