Troubleshooting My PC: A Frustrating Restart Experience
I recently encountered a perplexing issue with my desktop computer that I never paid much attention to until now. Occasionally, whenever I slam my hand on my desk or accidentally drop something on it, my PC unexpectedly restarts. I brushed it off as nothing significant—until today. After a particularly emphatic hand slam, my system rebooted, displaying a message that read, “This PC needs to be repaired” and indicated that it was missing something called “kernels.”
I proceeded to shut down my computer, anticipating a simple reboot would resolve the situation. However, upon attempting to power it back on, my screen remained blank, showing only a “no signal” message.

- Processor: Intel i7-7700

Update: A Collaborative Fix
I am grateful for the incredibly helpful responses I received! Following the advice of several users, I disassembled most of my PC, carefully reassembling it, and performed a CMOS reset. Thankfully, this troubleshooting process worked like a charm, and my computer is now functioning perfectly again!
Interestingly, I don’t often lose my temper, but let’s just say playing Escape from Tarkov can bring out a different side of me!
