Troubleshooting HDD Issues: Seeking Advice on a Failing Drive
Recently, I encountered a troubling issue with my hard disk drive (HDD) that has left me in need of guidance from the tech community. Upon checking the drive’s health status, I noticed a concerning “FAIL” message in the “Reallocated Sector Count” section.
Just last week, I received a warning indicating that my drive might be on the brink of failure, which could lead to unpredictable interruptions. Although I managed to work around this alert temporarily, my situation has deteriorated since then. My computer now experiences random freezes, applications crash unexpectedly, and I’ve been met, more than once, with the dreaded Blue Screen of Death.
To address the issue, I took my PC to a repair shop. They reported that the system had not presented any crashes during their testing. However, once I returned home, I encountered two more blue screens. For those interested in following my journey, I’ve shared some images that might help illustrate the problems I’m facing.
Given these developments, I am strongly considering replacing my HDD. However, I’m reaching out to the community for insights and advice. What are your thoughts on my current situation? Are there preventative measures I can take to avoid similar issues in the future? Your experiences and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
