Noticing a Spark in My PC—Is It Safe to Power On?

A Warning Sign from My PC: Encountering a Possible Power Issue

Recently, I had a concerning experience with my computer that has left me questioning its safety and functionality. While using my PC, I accidentally jostled my headphone jack, which, at the time, didn’t appear to cause any noticeable issues. However, hours later, I experienced an unexpected shutdown. Unlike a normal reboot, my keyboard and RGB lights went dark, and I found myself needing to cut the power entirely to get it running again.

After the second incident, I noticed that my computer was struggling to start back up. In an effort to reset, I unplugged it from the power strip and plugged it back in. That’s when things took a turn for the worse. Upon rebooting, I heard a loud pop, followed by the sight of a spark—potentially originating from the power supply unit (PSU).

This unsettling event has raised serious concerns about whether it’s safe to attempt booting up my computer again. If anyone has experience dealing with power supply issues or sparks from their PC, your insights and advice would be greatly appreciated. It’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to technology—especially when there’s a risk of electrical hazards.

As I navigate this situation, I’ll be sure to keep you updated on any developments and hopefully help others avoid similar issues. Stay tuned!
