On a call with my VP of global services, and they’re saying the quiet part out loud.

Navigating Challenging Conversations in the Workplace

Recently, while on a call with my Vice President of Global Services, I found myself grappling with some unsettling revelations about our current hiring practices. The discussion quickly turned from routine updates to something that truly struck a nerve—what I can only describe as ‘sourcing talent’ in a way that prioritizes cost over quality and ethical considerations.

It seems the organization is not merely seeking out the most affordable talent to fill vacant positions; there’s a more concerning trend of exploring jurisdictions with minimal labor protections. Such an approach raises serious questions about the value we place on the well-being and rights of our workforce. Not to mention, it has the potential to severely impact team morale across the board.

I wonder if others in similar roles are encountering these types of conversations within their organizations? As I prepare to leave my current company in search of better opportunities, I can’t help but feel a sense of relief. It’s essential to prioritize working environments that not only value talent but also uphold ethical standards. Here’s to finding greener pastures that align with one’s values and foster a healthier workplace culture.
