Overcoming the Challenge: An IT Expert’s Battle to Resolve This Problem

Troubleshooting GPU Issues: When Your Nvidia 3060 Stops Working

As an IT professional, encountering technical challenges is part of the job. However, even the most seasoned experts can find themselves stumped by certain problems—like the one I’m currently facing with a recently purchased used laptop.

Recently, I acquired a laptop equipped with an Nvidia 3060 GPU from my company. For the first two weeks, everything ran smoothly, and I was thoroughly pleased with the performance. Unfortunately, just a few days ago, the GPU seemingly malfunctioned.

In my pursuit of a solution, I have undertaken several troubleshooting steps. Initially, I focused on reinstalling the graphics drivers, updating the BIOS, and even rolling back both BIOS and Windows updates to previous versions. I also attempted to uninstall the drivers completely and returned to older driver versions. In a more drastic measure, I even reinstalled Windows—again, reverting to a previous version in hopes of resolving the issue.

Despite these efforts, Device Manager recognizes the GPU without a hitch; however, no other software seems to acknowledge its presence. This has been rather perplexing, and I’m now reaching out to see if anyone has encountered a similar situation or has insights that could lead to a solution.

If you have advice or tips to share, I would greatly appreciate your input. Together, we can tackle this challenge and hopefully restore this laptop to its full potential.
