Overcoming Exam Anxiety: My Journey to Passing the CompTIA Security+ Certification

I am thrilled to share that I passed the CompTIA Security+ Certification exam on my first attempt! For anyone who is feeling apprehensive about their readiness, let me reassure you—while the exam certainly has its challenges, it was not as daunting as I had anticipated.

Admittedly, the exam was not a walk in the park. Some of the questions could have been phrased more clearly, which added a bit to the stress. However, the simulation questions turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Contrary to my expectations, which involved recalling complex commands from memory, they were more akin to matching questions or utilizing dropdown menus. This realization was a game-changer in my preparation.

My initial hesitation to take the exam stemmed mainly from a fear of these simulations. I convinced myself that I needed more practice, which only delayed my progress. In reality, I was ready and had been unnecessarily psyching myself out.

For those currently studying for this certification, here’s my best advice: Once you’ve wrapped up your studying, take as many practice exams as you can and ensure you are consistently achieving passing scores. If you encounter questions that stump you, don’t hesitate to skip them and mark them for review. Sometimes, subsequent questions can trigger your memory and provide the necessary context to answer them later.
