Passed the Comptia Security+ Certification Exam on my first go… Don’t be afraid.

Triumphing Over the CompTIA Security+ Exam: My First-Time Success Story

I recently achieved a significant milestone by passing the CompTIA Security+ certification exam on my very first attempt. If you’re feeling anxious about facing this challenge, let me assure you—there’s no need for fear.

For those contemplating this certification, I found the exam to be much less daunting than I had anticipated, despite it still requiring effort and preparation. While I encountered a few questions that could have been phrased more clearly, I was pleasantly surprised by how manageable the simulations were.

Initially, I imagined that the simulations would demand precise command inputs from memory. However, in practice, they resembled match-the-concept questions or offered simple dropdown selections. This misconception had kept me from taking the plunge sooner, leading me to believe I needed additional practice before I was ready. In reality, I was psyching myself out unnecessarily.

Here are some tips based on my experience: First, engage with practice exams after completing your study materials. Consistently scoring well will boost your confidence. If you stumble upon a question that you can’t answer right away, skip it and mark it for later review. Sometimes, answering another question can trigger the information you need for the one you struggled with. Be sure to mark those questions so you can revisit them efficiently at the end of your exam.

I also want to extend my gratitude to the wonderful community members on this subreddit who have contributed invaluable information, advice, and resources. Their support has been instrumental on my journey into the world of cybersecurity.

Best of luck to everyone preparing for their exams—you’ve got this!

Update: A heartfelt thank you to all for your encouraging messages and awards. I truly appreciate it! I couldn’t have reached this achievement without the support of this community.
