Passed the Comptia Security+ Certification Exam on my first go… Don’t be afraid.

Successfully Passing the CompTIA Security+ Certification: My Journey

I’m excited to share that I passed the CompTIA Security+ Certification Exam on my first attempt! To anyone contemplating taking the plunge, I encourage you not to let fear hold you back.

If you find yourself anxious about being adequately prepared for the exam, let me reassure you: it was less challenging than I had anticipated. While I won’t say it was a walk in the park, it certainly wasn’t as daunting as I had imagined. A few questions had wording that could have been clearer, but overall, the exam experience was manageable.

One aspect that truly surprised me were the simulation questions. I had built them up in my mind to be difficult tasks requiring memorized commands. In reality, they resembled matching questions and drop-down selections much more than I expected. It’s ironic because my fear of these simulations had initially led me to hesitate in scheduling the exam, thinking I needed more practice. Looking back, I realize that I unnecessarily stressed myself out.

Here’s some advice for those preparing for the exam: After finishing your study materials, take several practice exams. Pay attention to whether you consistently pass—you’ll want to go into the test feeling confident. If you come across questions that stump you, skip them for the moment and mark them for review. Oftentimes, later questions may provide hints that jog your memory, allowing you to come back with a clearer mind.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to the wonderful community on this subreddit. The wealth of information, valuable tips, and resources shared by its members has been instrumental in my journey through the world of cybersecurity.

Best of luck to everyone on their certification journey!

Edit: A heartfelt thank you to everyone for the kind words and support—your encouragement has meant the world to me!
