Troubleshooting PC Resets: Issues with Power Strips and Light Switches
Hello, tech enthusiasts!
I recently encountered a peculiar challenge with my computer setup that I hope to get some insights on. Here’s the situation: whenever I plug in or unplug devices from the power strip connected to my PC, everything seems to reset. The monitor goes dark, any games I had running crash, and my Corsair iCUE Software reverts to its default settings. It’s quite the hassle, requiring me to wait at least ten seconds before everything powers back up normally. Interestingly, this also occurs when I flip specific light switches in the room.
This isn’t my first encounter with this problem—my previous PC exhibited the same erratic behavior, so I’m skeptical that the issue lies solely with the hardware itself.
To give you some context, I’m currently using a Brennenstuhl Premium-Line 8-way extension lead, which I trust is of decent quality. As far as I know, the electrical wiring in my home complies with European standards, yet it feels as though I’m encountering some sort of power surge or voltage dip that’s impacting my system.
Have any of you faced a similar issue? I’m curious if this could be related to grounding problems, subpar wiring, or perhaps another underlying cause. Any insights or suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your time and expertise!
