Persistent issues with internet disconnects, high ping, and packet loss led me to six calls to my ISP’s support, only to be asked, “What’s packet loss?”

Struggling with Internet Connectivity? My Frustrating Experience with ISP’s Tech Support

If you’ve ever faced frustrating internet issues, you know how maddening the experience can be—especially when tech support doesn’t seem to grasp the problem. My recent encounter with my Internet Service Provider (ISP) highlighted just how challenging these situations can become.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been battling frequent internet outages, significant latency when pinging servers, and alarming packet loss. To diagnose the issue, I reached out to my ISP’s technical support team six times. To my dismay, their initial response was a baffled, “What’s packet loss?” At that moment, I realized I might be navigating this problem without the help I desperately needed.

My setup involves a standard Huawei HG532E modem connected via a wired connection. Unfortunately, I’ve been dealing with recurring disconnects, which result in both the Internet and ADSL lights on my modem shutting off. This problem occurs every 2-5 minutes, leaving me infuriated as I watch my connection drop in and out.

To troubleshoot, I attempted switching to G.dmt modulation, which fixed a couple of issues but simultaneously exacerbated the primary one—my internet began dropping out more frequently than before. The modem would disconnect for about 20 seconds, mimicking a complete reboot. Despite trying various modulation types, the outcome remained distressingly similar.

In a last-ditch effort to get this sorted, I requested to escalate my issue to level 2 technical support. Promised a callback within two days, I found myself waiting for over two weeks with no response. Each time I followed up, they extended the timeline by yet another few days.

I’m reaching a breaking point with this scenario and am eager for any advice on how to tackle this problem. If you’ve faced similar frustrations or have solutions that worked for you, I would greatly appreciate your input. Sharing experiences can help us all navigate the trials of unreliable internet service, so thank you for your support!
