How to Recover Data from a Failed Laptop Hard Drive
Hello, fellow tech enthusiasts!
I recently faced a frustrating scenario with my 2016 Alienware laptop, which unexpectedly stopped functioning—likely due to a motherboard short circuit. This mishap left me unable to access my files, which were primarily stored on a 1TB hard disk drive (HDD). I had previously installed a 500GB Samsung Evo 970 solid-state drive (SSD) for the operating system, but it was the data on my HDD that I was most concerned about.
After acquiring a new laptop, I decided to format the SSD to prepare it for the fresh system. I also borrowed a SATA enclosure from a friend to connect the old HDD via USB, hoping to transfer my important files. However, to my dismay, the drive appeared empty when I accessed it.
To troubleshoot this situation, I have reviewed the SMART report for the HDD, which I’ve included for anyone interested in offering guidance. I estimate that I had around 300 to 400 GB of data on the drive, ranging from important documents to cherished memories.
If you have any tips or insights on how to recover my missing data, I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Thanks in advance for your help!
