Removing Cortana instantly fixed 75% of my mouse lag issues, and I’m wondering what else I could do to fix the last 25%

Resolving Mouse Lag Issues on Your New Computer: Insights and Solutions

After an exhausting 50+ hours of troubleshooting, I’ve made significant progress with my new P51 ThinkPad. While I’ve managed to eliminate about 75% of the mouse lag issues I was facing, I’m on the lookout for additional strategies to address that remaining 25%.

The main problem I encountered revolved around mouse lag, particularly when interacting with Flash-generated slides in Chrome—a key task I perform daily for work. Despite my proactive measures, including uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, updating Software, and even wiping my system to start afresh, the persistent stutter continued to plague my experience.

Initially, the mouse would stutter every 3 to 5 seconds while hovering over those slides, which was incredibly frustrating. Some users suggested that Cortana might be contributing to the lag, so I decided to remove her. To my surprise, I noticed an immediate improvement after the uninstallation. However, the experience still falls short of being fully smooth.

Interestingly, I’ve observed that reducing the size of the window or scaling down the slides significantly reduces the lag, but this is hardly a viable long-term solution as I need to see my work clearly on the screen.

This leads me to reach out for additional ideas or suggestions from fellow tech enthusiasts. What other solutions could help me achieve a perfectly fluid mouse experience?

Update: I greatly appreciate all the thoughtful suggestions provided thus far. I have attempted nearly all of them, but the problem persists. One key point I’d like to highlight is that the mouse operates smoothly whenever it’s outside the Flash slides; the stuttering only becomes evident once it crosses into the slides. Any insights you have would be invaluable as I strive to find a complete resolution.
