Tackling Mouse Lag on My ThinkPad: Seeking Solutions Beyond Cortana
For anyone experiencing mouse lag, particularly when using specific applications, you’re not alone. I recently embarked on a frustrating journey with my new P51 ThinkPad, grappling with significant mouse stuttering—particularly while navigating Flash-generated slides in Chrome, which are crucial for my daily work tasks.
After dedicating over 50 hours to troubleshooting this persistent issue, I’ve exhausted a multitude of solutions. I’ve diligently uninstalled, reinstalled, and updated various drivers and programs, even going so far as to completely reset my computer. Yet, the mouse lag remained stubborn, manifesting as noticeable stutters every few seconds while interacting with those slides.
Initially, I read online that Cortana could be a contributing factor to mouse lag. After removing the virtual assistant, I noticed an immediate improvement—around 75% of the lag seemed to dissipate. However, the issue is not entirely resolved; the mouse still stutters occasionally, especially within those Flash slides.
Interestingly, I found that resizing the slides or reducing the window size significantly minimizes the mouse problems, but this isn’t a viable long-term solution. The need for a clear view of my work is essential, so I’m reaching out for additional suggestions.
If anyone has experienced similar issues or has insights into potential fixes, I would greatly appreciate your guidance!
Update: I want to express my gratitude for all the suggestions I’ve received so far. I’ve tried nearly every recommendation but still can’t achieve a complete resolution. One crucial observation: the mouse operates smoothly and responsively outside of the Flash slides, but as soon as I move the cursor over them, the stuttering begins anew. If you have more ideas or tips, please share!
