Repeated BSODs in new PC with Windows 11

Troubleshooting Frequent Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) on a New Windows 11 PC

Recently, I purchased a brand-new PC, which initially functioned flawlessly for the first week. However, things took a turn when it inexplicably rebooted, presenting me with a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). This was just the beginning of my troubles. After that first incident, the BSODs became a persistent issue, leading me into a frustrating loop where my system would crash shortly after logging in.

In an effort to resolve the issue, I attempted to restore a previous point, but I encountered an error that forced me to reinstall Windows. Post reinstallation, stability returned briefly before the BSOD struck again. Now, I’ve noticed a concerning pattern: the system operates smoothly for about 0.5 to 2 days before experiencing another BSOD, typically after which another crash occurs right after logging in. This cycle repeats, with periods of stability interspersed with abrupt failures.

Interestingly, each BSOD appears to stem from different causes, with error codes including KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP_M, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Of these, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION seems to afflict me most frequently. It’s worth mentioning that I haven’t been engaging in any intensive gaming activities; most BSODs occur while performing basic tasks like browsing, editing documents, or watching videos with multiple windows open.

PC Specifications:
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro (version 10.0.26100)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 D AX
Processor: Intel Core i9-14900KF (3200 MHz, 24 cores, 32 logical processors)
BIOS: American Megatrends International, LLC. F3 (dated 27/09/2024)
RAM: 128 GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 (latest driver: 576.28)

I suspect the GPU could be a potential culprit, as there have been widespread complaints about issues related to the 5000 series. However, the nature of the reports I’ve encountered usually pertains to black screens rather than BSODs.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Updated the GPU driver (576.28), along with other drivers via the Gigabyte Control Center, but the issues persisted. The BIOS
