Revitalizing an Old Laptop: A Learning Tool for My Child
After a decade of faithful service, I recently rejuvenated my old laptop, now transformed into a vibrant learning device by installing Ubuntu. This refurbished machine is set to be my four-year-old daughter’s very first laptop—a wonderful opportunity for her to explore the digital world while honing her typing and writing skills.
As I prepare for her to embark on this technological journey, I’m looking for ways to make the experience as seamless as possible. One particular challenge I’ve encountered is how to configure the laptop so that it automatically boots into a text editor. This way, she won’t have to worry about using a mouse just yet, allowing her to focus solely on developing her writing skills.
Additionally, I have a question about making the laptop start up with the Caps Lock feature activated. Would this be a feasible adjustment? Any insights or suggestions from fellow tech enthusiasts would be immensely appreciated!
I’m excited to share this experience with my daughter, and I hope to create a supportive and engaging environment for her to learn and grow. Thank you to anyone who can provide guidance!
