The Cybersecurity Job Market: Analyzing the Skills Gap Myth

In recent years, the narrative surrounding a shortage of skilled workers in cybersecurity has garnered considerable attention. Yet, many job seekers are left wondering: if this skills gap truly exists, why do so many cybersecurity positions seem unfilled?

As someone who has actively explored the job market in this field, I’ve often encountered claims of millions of unfilled cybersecurity roles. However, my own experiences suggest a different reality. When diving into the job search, I’ve found that opportunities seem scarce and the competition is incredibly fierce. This begs the question: Are we really experiencing a skills shortage, or is there a disconnect between what employers want and what they are willing to pay?

I invite others to share their experiences. Have you found the job market to be as barren as I have? Or have you had different encounters in your pursuit of a cybersecurity career? Let’s discuss!
