Experiencing Performance Dips After Upgrading to an RTX 3090 and a 1440p OLED Monitor: Need Expert Advice

Upgrading hardware can often lead to significant performance improvements, but sometimes unexpected issues arise. Recently, I transitioned from an NVIDIA RTX 3070 to a RTX 3090 and upgraded my display to a 1440p OLED monitor (2560×1440 resolution). While I anticipated enhanced gaming performance, I’ve encountered perplexing results where most games now run worse than before.

The Unexpected Performance Drop

Surprisingly, only one game—Escape from Tarkov—shows a clear FPS boost post-upgrade. For all other titles, fps are notably lower than what I previously experienced with the RTX 3070. Here’s a snapshot of my current gaming performance:

Apex Legends: Approximately 60-70 FPS at reduced settings
PGA Tour 2K21: Around 20 FPS, making gameplay unplayable
Cyberpunk 2077: About 40 FPS on mixed settings
Call of Duty: World at War: Approximately 80 FPS

In previous configurations, I expected to comfortably hit over 100 FPS in fast-paced shooters like Apex and PGA Tour, with at least 60+ FPS in demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077. As it stands, gameplay feels inconsistent and less smooth, which is perplexing considering the hardware upgrade.
