Bizarre Incident: My PC Typed Sentences on Its Own – Seeking Guidance

I recently experienced a perplexing event with my computer and I’m reaching out for some advice.

While enjoying a game of Battlefield 4, I attempted to record some gameplay footage using Nvidia by experimenting with various key combinations. Moments after I found the correct shortcut, I noticed my game begin to malfunction. It unexpectedly opened the chat box and typed “amr admin” on its own. Alarmed, I quickly exited the game.

I can’t recall whether I opened Chrome myself, but once it was running, my browser began inputting complete sentences into the search bar autonomously. Curious about this bizarre behavior, I pressed random keys, but it continued to write coherent phrases like “use thea hze li again?” and “deah but now I might not be able ti do much :^_”.

In a state of concern, I immediately ran Malwarebytes to scan for malware, but it reported no threats. When I tried to exit Battlefield, it inexplicably reconnected me to the server and kept switching back to the game. To make matters worse, my mouse began flickering until I decided to reboot the system.

I thoroughly checked my keyboard settings, looking for any macros or odd configurations, but found nothing out of the ordinary. A brief internet search yielded no helpful threads on similar incidents. This entire experience felt surreal and has left me quite unsettled; I’m concerned whether this could be a malware issue or just a quirky hardware malfunction. It’s worth noting that I haven’t installed anything new on my PC in the last two weeks.

I’m contemplating a full system wipe, but I have crucial files that I don’t want to lose. Has anyone else encountered a situation like this? Could my PC be compromised, and what steps should I take next?

I want to clarify that I haven’t been able to replicate the typing issue, even when I try to repeat the keystrokes I used earlier.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to offer suggestions. I thoroughly reviewed my macros and followed several recommendations to check for unauthorized connections, but nothing appeared. Opting for caution, I decided to wipe my PC clean. I’ll revisit the tests to ensure everything is functioning properly moving forward.
