Unusual Occurrence: My PC Started Typing Sentences to Me – Assistance Needed

A Peculiar Incident with My PC: Seeking Community Insights

Hello everyone,

I hope you’ll indulge me as I share a rather unsettling experience I had recently with my computer. It’s a bit of a tale, but I’m looking for your insights and advice.

While engrossed in a session of Battlefield 4, I decided to record some gameplay using NVIDIA’s software. In my attempt to find the proper key combination for saving footage, my keyboard unexpectedly started misbehaving. Suddenly, the in-game chat activated, and to my bewilderment, it typed out the phrase “amr admin.” Panic set in, and I hastily exited the game.

Shortly after, I launched Chrome and noticed bizarre activity in the search bar. To my horror, it began generating coherent sentences autonomously, including lines like “use thea hze li again?” and “deah but now i might not be able ti do much :^_.” I was utterly confounded and promptly ran a Malwarebytes scan, which thankfully revealed no threats.

As I attempted to leave Battlefield, the game bizarrely reconnected me to the server, and my mouse began flickering uncontrollably until I performed a reboot. Afterward, I inspected my keyboard for any macros, but found nothing unusual. I did some online research but struggled to locate similar experiences or solutions, leaving me feeling quite uneasy.

I haven’t installed anything new in the past couple of weeks, which raises the question: Is my computer compromised? Should I consider a complete wipe, despite having important files? Has anyone else experienced anything like this, and if so, what did you do?

I apologize for the rushed format; I’m typing this from my phone amidst a state of anxiety.

Update: After several attempts, I haven’t been able to replicate the typing issue, and even trying the original keystrokes yields no results.

Update 2: Thanks to everyone for your thoughtful responses. I meticulously checked my macros and ensured that no external connections were active—everything seemed normal. Nevertheless, prioritizing caution, I decided to wipe my PC entirely. I plan to conduct further tests to track down any potential problems.

Update 3: I appreciate everyone’s continued support. While many suggested that this might have been a rogue macro, the content remains unfamiliar to me, leading to my decision to erase my system entirely. Although I suspect it may have stemmed from a macro-related issue, I wanted a clean slate without uncertainty
