Version 1: Passed the CompTIA Security+ on my first try—Don’t worry, you can do it too!

Overcoming My Fears: Successfully Passing the CompTIA Security+ Exam on the First Try

I am thrilled to share that I recently passed the CompTIA Security+ Certification exam on my first attempt! For anyone feeling nervous about their exam preparation, let me assure you—it wasn’t as daunting as I had anticipated.

While the exam certainly posed its challenges, it was manageable. I encountered a few questions that could have benefitted from clearer wording, but overall, I found them to be straightforward. One of my biggest sources of anxiety was the simulation portion of the test. I expected it to involve complex command inputs from memory but was pleasantly surprised to discover that it resembled more of a matching exercise or involved simple dropdown menus.

This fear of the simulations had caused me to postpone my exam multiple times, thinking I needed additional practice. In hindsight, I realize that my concerns were unwarranted and had simply held me back from moving forward.

Here are a few tips based on my experience that may help you as you prepare for the exam:

  1. Take Practice Exams: Once you’ve completed your study materials, make it a priority to take practice exams. Consistently passing these can significantly boost your confidence.

  2. Strategy for Tough Questions: If you encounter questions that you’re unsure about, don’t hesitate to skip them. Mark them for later review, as another question might provide context that helps jog your memory.

  3. Leverage Community Resources: I would like to express my gratitude to the various community members on this subreddit who have generously shared advice, resources, and insights. Your contributions have been invaluable and will continue to be a source of encouragement in my cybersecurity journey.

I wish you all the best of luck as you prepare for your own certification exams! Remember, persistence is key.

P.S. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way through comments, encouragement, and awards; I truly couldn’t have achieved this without you!
