A Bizarre Encounter: My PC Typing Mysteriously – Seeking Guidance
Recently, I experienced an incredibly strange incident with my computer that left me both bewildered and concerned. I was enjoying a game of Battlefield 4 and attempted to capture some gameplay footage using my NVIDIA Software. While navigating through various key combinations, I stumbled upon the correct one to save my game clips. However, shortly after, my keyboard began to malfunction in the most unsettling way.
To my astonishment, the game automatically opened its chat feature and typed out “amr admin.” Feeling a rush of panic, I exited the game. Still in disbelief, I noticed that when I opened Google Chrome, my search bar started populating with complete sentences. I attempted to press keys simultaneously to stop whatever was happening, but it continued to type on its own. Some of the phrases it produced included “use thea hze li again?” and “deah but now i might not be able ti do much :^_.”
Disturbed, I ran Malwarebytes to scan for any malicious Software, but it reported no threats. To complicate matters further, when I tried to exit Battlefield 4, the game kept reconnecting me to the server, and my mouse flickered incessantly until I rebooted my computer.
I quickly checked my keyboard settings and macros but didn’t identify any issues. I turned to online forums for help, but found little information that mirrored my experience. This incident felt surreal and quite frightening—I was uncertain if it was due to malware or a malfunctioning piece of hardware. Notably, I hadn’t downloaded any new Software in the last two weeks.
Now, I’m at a crossroads. Should I consider performing a full wipe of my computer, especially with several important files stored on it? Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Is my system compromised? I would greatly appreciate any advice on what steps to take next.
Update 1: I’m unable to replicate the typing issue, even after revisiting the keystrokes that initially triggered the event.
Update 2: Thank you all for your thoughtful suggestions. I conducted another round of checks on my macros and evaluated any connected devices, but nothing was amiss. Erring on the side of caution, I ultimately decided to wipe my PC clean. I will continue monitoring the situation and run tests to see if the issue resurfaces.
Update 3: I appreciate all the input! Many people have suggested this could be
