In recent developments surrounding cybersecurity, an alarming situation has emerged related to the LummaStealer malware. Windows Defender has reportedly “abandoned” this threat without effectively quarantining it, leaving countless users vulnerable to account compromises. In a startling series of events, I experienced multiple breaches in my online accounts, including those from major platforms like Microsoft, EA, Epic Games, Instagram, Twitter, Ubisoft, and LinkedIn. Just yesterday, my EA account was breached again, along with my Supercell account. It felt as if my digital life was unraveling, with nearly every account falling victim to this menace.

In the wake of this chaos, I turned to Malwarebytes for assistance. The Software detected and removed eight items from my system, two of which were confirmed malware, with the remainder being categorized as potentially unwanted programs (PUPs). However, this was merely the start of my recovery efforts, as I soon discovered that some accounts continued to experience unusual activity even after the initial cleanup.
My Instagram account, for instance, began following random users and posting inappropriate content related to scams involving adult material and cryptocurrency. This situation has not only been frustrating but has also demanded significant time and effort to rectify.
Customer Support Struggles
In an attempt to resolve these issues, I have reached out to customer service for virtually every compromised application. Unfortunately, the experience has been less than satisfactory. LinkedIn’s support has proven inadequate, making it difficult to regain access to my account. Similarly, Instagram’s assistance has been disappointing; their support team merely advises users to reset passwords and enable two-factor authentication (2FA). Despite following these recommendations, I am still facing ongoing hurdles.
