Rediscovering a Piece of Computing History: My Dad’s Sharp PC-7000

During a recent cleanup of our shed, I stumbled upon a fascinating relic from the past—my father’s Sharp PC-7000, a portable computer that once represented cutting-edge technology.

As I settled it on my lap, I snapped a quick photo, capturing a moment that I knew would evoke nostalgia. This little machine has had its fair share of adventures; it has remained in the shed to avoid the unwelcome company of spiders but surprisingly sprang back to life when I plugged it in. To my delight, we even have some floppy disks still intact for it!

Reflecting on its design and capabilities, it’s easy to see why it was considered revolutionary during its heyday. My dad used to carry this remarkable device to his classes, illustrating just how far we’ve come in the world of technology since then.

As I hold this piece of history, I am reminded of the rapid evolution of technology and the cherished memories associated with the tools of yesteryear. The Sharp PC-7000 may be a bit outdated now, but it undeniably holds a special place in my heart and serves as a fascinating reminder of the past.
