While organizing the shed, I discovered my father’s portable computer.

Rediscovering Vintage Technology: The Sharp PC-7000

While tidying up my shed recently, I came across a hidden gem from the past: my father’s Sharp PC-7000 portable computer. This nostalgic find brought back a wave of memories, and I couldn’t resist snapping a photo of it perched on my lap.

Currently, the PC-7000 resides outside in the shed—mainly due to an ongoing battle with spiders. However, to my delight, it powered right up when plugged in! Remarkably, we’ve still got a collection of floppy disks that accompany it, adding to its vintage charm.

As I explored this little piece of history, it became clear just how impressive this machine was during its heyday. My father used to carry it with him to classes, showcasing its pioneering technology. It’s fascinating to reflect on how far we’ve come in computing, yet how these early devices laid the groundwork for the innovations we enjoy today.

Have you stumbled upon any vintage technology that holds sentimental value? Feel free to share your stories!
